104 I got to go back to adoption, but I want to
stop on "sins" here a minute. "Sins," did you notice that? You
know God don't condemn a sinner for sinning? He condemns him for being a
sinner. If a sinner smokes a cigar, He don't
condemn him for it; he's a sinner anyhow. See, see? He don't have any
sins, the sinner don't. He's just a sinner (See?); he don't
have any sins. But you have sins, you that's
Christians. You notice here, he's talking to the church. Keep her straight.
See, see? "Forgiveness of sins," s-i-n-s. We commit sins. But the sinner is just a
sinner; God don't forgive him.

56 Remember last Wednesday night, no Christian... Christians
sin, but a sinner cannot sin. A sinner doesn't sin, because he's a sinner. He's just a sinner
to begin with and that's all. Here, take the--the back of this book; it's
black, how much of that is black? It's all black. There's just no white to it;
it's black. You say, "This much here." No, it ain't;
it's the whole thing's black. It's all black. That's the way a sinner is. He's
just condemned to start with. Well, you say, "What about if he commits
adultery? What if he ravishes some woman? What if he--what if he--he gambles?
What if he shoots somebody?" That's none of our business. That's none of
our business; we got laws down here to take care of that. We're not reformers;
we're preachers of the Gospel. We
don't condemn him for what he done; we don't condemn him for committing
adultery. We condemn him because he's a sinner. If he was a Christian, he
wouldn't do it. That's right. If he's been changed, he won't do that. But
because he is a sinner, that's what makes him do that.
HEBREWS.CHAPTER.6_ JEFF.IN HEB
SUNDAY_ 57-0908E
209-262 Now, he said,
... leaving the principles of the
doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection;...
Now, we got that this morning, how that we are perfected:
perfected, absolutely spotless and blameless, not one sin on us. Are you
above temptation? Never. Do you sin every day? Yes,
sir. But yet, we are perfected, because we are in Him. And God could no more
judge us than nothing; He couldn't be righteous; He's already judged us in Him.
When He judged Christ, He judged me, He judged you. And He can't judge me
again, because He took my judgment.
If I've been redeemed and I got a ticket to show that I've
redeemed my watch from the pawn shop, let somebody try to take it back in the
pawn shop once, when I've got a ticket; I have redeemed it. And if the Devil
would try to put punishment on me, I've got a ticket that shows I've been
redeemed. Yes, sir. No more judgment, "He that heareth
My Words, and believeth on Him that sent Me, has
Eternal Life, and shall never come to the judgment, but has passed from death
unto Life." That's my ticket. He gave the promise.

388-129 Do Christians sin?
Absolutely no. There is no Scripture where a
Christian sins. He cannot sin. I know there's a resentment
to that. Well, we'll just go to I John 3 and see what
the Scripture says. A Christian does not sin.
Did you ever see a black white bird or a white black bird? Did you
ever see a drunk sober man? No. You never did see a
sinner saint either. There's no such a thing.
Now, if this gets just a little touchy, you just put a lot of balm
in, you know, and it'll--it'll cure up just in a little bit now.

E-32 But we find out that this guy taking this
attitude, and doing the thing he did, what happened to him? The Lord struck him
with leprosy right there in the building. And what's leprosy a type of? Sin, unbelief. There's no other sin but
unbelief. He that believeth not is condemned already. And sin is the only
unbelief there is.
I was preaching one time in a Methodist church, and I said,
"Smoking cigarettes is not a sin. Committing adultery's not a sin. Taking
the Lord's Name is not sin."
Too much for one sister, she raised up
and said, "Pray tell me, Reverend Branham, what is sin?"
I said, "Unbelief. You do those things because you
do not believe." That's exactly. The reason you refuse to walk in the
light of the Word is because you disbelieve the Word. That makes you an
unbeliever.

E-48 What is sin? What is sin? Not drinking, not smoking, not
gambling, not rejecting church. Sin is unbelief. Is
that right? He that believeth not is condemned already. See? You're not...
You do not... You're not destroyed or separated from God because you're a
sinner. You're separated to God--from God because you refuse to walk with Him,
to walk in His provided way.
You've got death and life before you. Just like Adam and
Eve, every man's a free moral agent. And the Tree of Life and tree of death is
before us all. You can take either one you wish to. It depends on what tree you
eat off of is what you are. That's right. And God is... God created you a free
moral agent to do whatever you want to do about it. He can't make you love Him,
and He don't force you to love Him.

E-36 Now, that's what God wants to do here
tonight. He wants to get rid of--of all the sin that's in this--in this group,
if there's sin in here. I pray there's not one, but if there is... And you
know... "What is sin, Brother Branham? Well, today, I tell
you, I lost my temper."
Now, wait just a moment. Sin is unbelief. Now, that's
what sin is. There's no other sin but unbelief. It's not a sin to do things
like drinking and--and smoking and gambling and--and prostitution. That's not
sin. That's--that's the result of sin, that the reason you do that is because
you are a unbeliever. See? That's the attributes of
sin.
EXPLAINING.HEALING.AND.JAIRUS_ WOOD.RIVER.IL TUESDAY_

E-13 Well, what is sin? See? Drinking
whiskey is not, and smoking cigarettes, and committing
adultery is not sin. That's just the attributes of sin. You do that because
you're sinners. That's what you life bears. Smoke... Just like I said tonight
outside, "How much this is nice, the whole thing's nice." And you're
a sinner, because you believe not. "He that believeth not is condemned
already." You're a sinner, because you don't believe. And
when... That's what makes you do those is, because you do not believe,
and yet you profess to believe. That ought to make all the holiness preachers
say, "Amen." And a Calvinist is saying it. All
right.
But anyhow, what the--when you--your life is known by the
fruit you bear. And if you just simply do these things, and think there's no harm
in them, it's because it hasn't been right down here, yet. See? You do that
because you are a unbeliever.
Now, I know Baptists will disagree with that. But listen, brother,
the tree's known by its fruit it bears. Jesus said, "By their fruit, ye
shall know them."

125 Then what
is sin? In
Satan in his enticement told Eve that God said that, but He didn't
mean it. See how he whitewashed the Word? Well, now he said, "Now, God
said It, but He didn't mean It." In other words,
"You'll be... Our eyes will be opened. You'll know, know a lot more
knowledge."
And now, that same rotten lie is told by Satan to
preachers and church members today, to say, "The Word of God says
so-and-so, but It don't mean that." God's Word
means just exactly what It said. That's right.

Now we say "sin"; we just call it sin: break it down. What is sin? A lot of people say,
"Drinking, committing adultery." No, no, that's the attributes of
sin. See? That's what sin causes (See?), but real sin is unbelief.
That's where--that's where it's named and called out. If you are a believer,
you don't do those things. But no matter how holy you try to make yourself and how
religious you try to be, if you do those things, you're an unbeliever. That's
Scriptural.

E-31 Because the Bible said, "Go ye and sin
no more, or a worse thing come upon you." And what is
sin? Unbelief. When God has made Hisself manifested to you, like that. And you go away,
"Well, I don't know. He might've guessed that. It might..." Brother,
it's not guessing. See? No. And you go away like that, then
just look out for something else to happen. That's right.
So don't even come in the line. No matter what happens, you stay
out of the line. If you don't believe with all your heart
that the works come from Jesus Christ. Just stay--stay out. And let
someone come up who will believe. See?
And to me, I'd--I'd think it would be the most
happiest thing in the world, to know that... I know sometimes, I'm
asking for something. And He will show me a vision. And I tell you, my wife
thinks they got the Salvation Army in the bedroom, sometimes, when He reveals
to me something another, that I've been asking for,
for... And all at once, I look and here stands before me. And I see it
unfolding to me, and I'll scream and cry and I--I'll tell you, I'm just so
happy, I can't hardly hold myself together.

What is sin? Sin is unbelief, unbelief in what? The Word. Unbelief in God, which is the Word. Pure, unadulterated (Oh,
hallelujah.), leaving soon for the skies. Amen. Standing ready... Think, your
garments washed by the Water of the bleeding Word. The Word become
Blood. The Word bled for you, and you're washed in bleeding Word. The Word
bleeding, the Life of God in the Word, and the Word was bled for you, that you
might be washed from the filth of these prostitutes and be cleaned and
sanctified by the washing of the Water of the Word that makes your mind and
heart stayed on God and on His Word.

is sin? Unbelief. You've disbelieved the message.
You've disbelieved the Word. You've disbelieved the witness of the Token
Itself, when It's identified Itself in the midst of
us. And have you disbelieved that? No matter how much you disbelieve It, It's
got to be applied.
You might say, "I believe it; I believe it. I believe It's the Truth. I accept It as the
Truth."
Then that is all good, but yet, It's got
to be applied.

Now, if you see the Holy Spirit... For instance, what if the Holy Spirit
would come down here and discern like It does, and what if that would be the
Holy Ghost, and you didn't believe It was, and you went out and made fun of It
and talked about It; I don't care what you ever do, you're finished. And you
cannot do it. That proves right there that you're not of God, because the Seed
of God remains in the man and he cannot sin. And
what is sin? Unbelief. When he sees the Word made
manifest, he'll believe It. And he can only...
See, there's only one sin, only one sin. How many knows
that? That's
unbelief. That's right. Committing adultery's not a sin. Smoking cigarettes,
telling lies, swearing, that's not sin. That's attributes of unbelief. You do
it, because you're not a believer. That's right. So, see, there's only one sin,
and that's unbelief. "He that believeth not is condemned already." No
matter what he does or nothing, he's condemned to start with. All right.

And now, as this is surely true, both here and the invisible audience, we
are pictured here tonight in one of these classes. Either we are genuine
believers... Test it with the Word. If the Word said a certain thing and the
church said something different, what would you take? Look in the glass of
God's Word and see which class you're standing in. And if you're not tonight
(both here and in the invisible audience)--if you're not--if--if you're not
with that believing type, could I offer just a word of prayer for you now that
you would come into that believing type? And would you signify the same by God
with your heads bowed, your hearts bowed, your eyes closed, and before God...
Sometimes people are just a little bit afraid, you know, to kinda
raise up their hands--afraid their neighbor... Which they oughtn't to be that
way, but they--they should be willing to stand up and say, "I--I'm wrong.
I'm wrong."
"He that--he that covers his sin shall not prosper, but he that
will confess his sin will have mercy." See? What
is sin? Unbelief. Unbelief in what?
The Word.
