“The
Approach to God” Pt.5 ( Right Approach )
PSALMS 100:1
1 ¶ A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise
unto the LORD, all ye lands.
PSALMS 100:2
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before
his presence with singing.
PSALMS 100:3
3 Know ye that the LORD he [is] God: [it is]
he [that] hath made us, and not we ourselves; [we are] his people, and the
sheep of his pasture.
PSALMS 100:4
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
[and] into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, [and] bless his name.
PSALMS 100:5
5 For the LORD [is] good; his mercy [is]
everlasting; and his truth [endureth] to all
generations.
ISAIAH 66:1
1 ¶ Thus saith
the LORD, The heaven [is] my throne, and the earth [is] my footstool: where
[is] the house that ye build unto me? and where [is]
the place of my rest?
ISAIAH 66:2
2 For all those [things] hath mine hand made,
and all those [things] have been, saith the LORD: but
to this [man] will I look, [even] to [him that is] poor and of a contrite
spirit, and trembleth at my word.

And now, we found salvation that will save us from sin, that will take
the vilest woman or man, drunkard, prostitute, and make them a child of God.
Well, that same faith, that same power that will lift up a fallen man or woman
with that, it'll work for us in many different ways. It will heal our bodies, if you can just find the right
approach. You've got to find how to do it. Like if I had a--a farm over on this
hill full of good corn, and it's just about dead on account of water.
And I got an artesian well on this side of the hill. Well, I can't make that
artesian well throw the water down here and up this side of the hill to water
it, but I've got to survey that land and find out how that water will take it's own current and course and come around and water that
crop. It'll do it if I'll just let it run in it's own
channel.
And that's the same thing the Holy
Spirit is in God's promise. If we'll just let It run It's way and not us get in
the way, not us throw our doubts there, "cause this didn't and that
didn't," just let God's Holy Spirit working in you rest upon the promise,
it'll do just exactly what God said it would.

If you just know the right approach to it, you could walk right up and
receive it just like that. That's all. See? Because if God promised
anything, and you don't receive it, there's something wrong.
People
come sometime... I haven't time tonight to go into detail on this, I will maybe
next week, on testimony. But how that people come from everywhere, say,
"Well, I failed to get it."

So, I think that's why Mary--or Martha it was (that went out to meet
Jesus) she knowed... She'd read that story of the Shunammite baby. She knew if God was in the prophet, surely God was in His
Son. And she knew that she'd get her request, if she went with the right
approach. That's the next thing: People approach God in the wrong way. You've
got to come the right approach.
Not long ago, I had honor of praying
for a king. They taken the cuffs out of my trouser legs, told me to never
back--not to turn my back on him, after prayer and things, to back away from
him. Never turn your back on a king. That's a very good thing; don't never turn your back on the King of kings then. See?
And it's approach, a certain approach...

In the courts, there's a judge up on the stand, and if you know
something back there, you say, "Hey, wait a minute, judge! I want to talk
to you a minute!" You'll be called down. There's an approach to approach
that judge, and you've got to come that approach. And there's approach you've
got to come to God. If you come to a gift of God, you've got to come in the
right mental attitude. You've got to come the right approach, or you won't
receive nothing when you come.
And that's the way this Martha did when
Jesus came; she came with the right approach. This Shunammite
woman, she came with the right approach, with a heart burdened, longing for
God. And she held on to it.
And
Elijah said, "Well, I'll just gird up his loins." And he went after
him.
He met Gehazi when he got there on his road back. Said, "I
put the staff on the baby, and there was no life in him. And..."
Of course not; the woman didn't believe it. If she would've believed it, it
would've happened. But she wanted the prophet; she didn't know about the staff.
Elijah had faith for that, but the woman had faith in the prophet.

Now, this
woman, this Syrophenician woman, she believed also,
this Greek. She said, "Lord." First she said, "Thou Son of
David." A Gentile has no hold on Christ by the Son of David; that was
through King David, the race of Jews. He never paid any attention to her. But when
she turned and said, "Lord, help me," (Amen.), that got Him. He was her Lord; not a Son of
David, but He was her Lord. "Lord, help me." That caught Him. And she... He turned around, said, "It's true the dogs
eat the scraps from the masters' table. That is true." Look what; that
woman had the right approach to God's gift. What did she say? He said she
approached it right.

This little
woman, no matter what the difficult was, she was persistent. Oh. She had the
right approach to the gift of God. She had the right approach: humility.
She fell down at His feet, and she had humility. She didn't stand up and say,
"Now, You wait just a minute. You know we people are Greeks. You said we
were dogs. Just a minute here, sir. Do You realize that we're the masters of art, and we're the
masters of so-and-so, and such-and-such?" She never thought of that at
all.
She just
admitted that He was right, and fell down at His feet, and said, "Help me,
Lord. I'll just eat the crumbs. If my daughter can't have a whole slice of
bread, will You just let her have the crumbs if she's
a dog?" Oh, my. There you are. Would we be satisfied with just the crumbs
if the Holy Spirit should reveal to somebody tonight you're healed? Would you
be ready just to take the crumbs? Or would you want God to walk over and raise
you up, and give you some kind of a feeling? If you'd just say in your heart,
"My sickness is over," you haven't got it no more. "I believe
that I'm going to be healed from tonight on." Would you take the crumbs?
Or would
you want everybody to come up and lay hands on you, and pour oil, and go
through the regular ritual like that--or are you just looking for crumbs? God
will honor that.

And when they took him, drug him off the... out of the--the Sanhedrin
council, throwed him out into the street--the church
people did--throwed him out there in the street,
because he had had fellowship through relationship by the Blood of Jesus
Christ, God's Son. They picked up stones and begin to smash his head with them.
But in the midst of all of it, even the stones beating him from side to side,
the meat flying off, his scalp flying, and the blood
gushing out, his lips and his teeth falling, that could not separate him. He
looked up and said, "I see Jesus."
Hallelujah! Why? He'd come by the
way of the Blood; that's God's only approach. Even death couldn't separate him.
The clods of persecution, the spit, the... Nothing could separate him from the
love of God. He'd come by the right approach; he'd come by the Blood.
