Quotes used in the sermon "Going from Schoolmaster to Tutor"
HEAR.YE.HIM_ PHOENIX.AZ SUNDAY_ 57-0310E
E-36 Now, Moses represented the law, and by the law no flesh is saved. You can't
be saved by the law.
The law was
only a schoolmaster; it only pointed sin. The law could point out sin, but it
didn't have the remedy for sin. Moses represented the law.
Then what did Elijah represent? Elijah represented the justice of God. Elijah
was the stern representation of God's justice. He had a revelation from God, a
vision, went up and set on a hill. Here king sent fifty men; raised up,
and he said, "If I be a man of God, let fire fall from heaven and consume you."
Down come the fire: justice of God, transgressor must die in the presence of it.
The king said, "That just might have been a thunderbolt pass through. I'll send
up another fifty."
So when they come up on the hill of fifty, Elijah raised up said, "If I be a man
of God, let fire come from heaven and consume you." And down come the fire and
consumed another fifty: justice.

96 But Noah, in his day it was hard for him in his dispensation (See?), because
that the people had never heard of such a thing, but it come just the same. Then
we find out on the scene, come after the--Noah's deliverance and so forth, and
the earth begin to grow again, and--and everything that breathed breath
perished. And then we find out again that there come a time, then God was
bringing His children out of Egypt, that Moses come along with the law. It was
so hard for the people to understand, but a dispensation was changing to a law.
And then after the law come, Moses trying... It was a schoolmaster.
People was
just living any way they wished to, so the schoolmaster, the law, was, the Bible
said, to bring people to recognize that it was wrong, so He gave them the ten
commandments. It was quite a change; the people didn't want to receive it. All
right.

E-83 Now, Peter wanted, right quick, he wanted a franchise on this, said, "Let's
start three denominations out of it. We'll build a tabernacle here for You, and
we'll build one for Moses, and we'll build one for Elijah. We'll have--we'll
start right off here with three to start with."
Now, oh, what a thing. I'm glad that he--it didn't go through, 'cause I--I
wouldn't want to come to Moses. Moses represented the law, and the law has no
saving power. The law can only put you in jail: can't get you out. The law has
no grace to it. No, sir.
The law was
a schoolmaster, and the law only condemned us. The law showed us we were
sinners, but it had no grace to it.

E-6 Now, and Moses, when he... the first forty years he was taught... Who do you
think Moses' teacher was? His mother. He couldn't have had any better, 'cause
she was hired as a tutor to raise her own child. I tell you, God certainly
pulled one over on Satan there, didn't He? He sure did. And Moses, knowing now,
from his mother, that he was raised up... Her a spiritual woman,
little is said about her, but brother, I want to be in glory when she receives
her crown (Yes, sir.) to see what takes place. How she taught that little fellow
right in the midst of the enemy, right there in the furnace of the heat of it.
And told him that he would be the one that would deliver God's children out of
that place.

E-61 Now, as this... the tutor begin to watch the boy grow. He was a son. But
yet the father didn't know what to do with him, or what he would be when he
growed up. Now, to my full opinion, friends, listen real close now and let's
pray for me if I'm wrong.
What happened when the full Gospel church, begin way yonder years ago, they
become sons of God when they receive the Holy Spirit. That's right. They come
sons. And the Holy Spirit is the Tutor to raise them in the admiration of God.
Now, as the
Tutor has been watching the children, and the Church has been progressing,
coming up... They've seen the age of birth. You say, "Born again." That's right.
Correctly. You're just as much son as you'll ever be when you're borned again.
But the tutor bringing word to the father. Then if the father, the tutor come to
the father, and the boy become about an age (About where the church ought to be
now.), comes of age, brightened up, seasoned, according to time when the boy
become of age, the tutor come to the father.
HEAR.YE.HIM_ CHICAGO.IL SUNDAY_ 56-0930
E-25 There is another picture looked at that. It was a placing of a son of the
Old Testament. In the Old Testament when a child was born, a boy... In the Old
Testament when a child was born into a home, it was given tutorship by a tutor,
which is a very beautiful picture of the son today, that's born into the
Father's house.
Now, we read in Saint John 14 said, "In My Father's house is many mansions." To
we western people, that doesn't sound right. You have to go to the east to know
what that means. The house was his kingdom. And the real way to translate that
in our day would be, "In My Father's Kingdom is many palaces." Another
translator said, "In My Father's apartment house is many apartments." He was off
too.
But, "In My Father's Kingdom is many palaces." Because what the father owned was
all this great province, this great place that he--he owned. And he had servants
all over the place.
And when his
son was born, he gave a correct tutor, one that was--that was sufficient to
educate his child, and to promote him, and to bring him up to be an honorable
man.
And how beautiful the Father of heaven when He made His Church, He gave us a
Tutor, the best there was in heaven, One that's worthy, and can guide us, and
lead us. That's the Holy Spirit, is a Tutor to the Church to bring It up in the
admiration of God.
HEAR.YE.HIM_ MIDDLETOWN.OH FRIDAY_ 58-0328
E-19 I was so surprised a few nights ago to raise my shade and look into a YMCA.
YM young man, CA, with a bunch of young women over there doing a rock-and-roll.
What does that C mean in YMCA? I thought it stood for Christ. If our churches
has become that polluted, and our educational system, what's left for us but
chaos?
And the church itself has become so degraded, and our places to teach this
modern rock-and-roll, Elvis Presley nonsense, and then call yourselves
Christians. By your fruits you are known. You know better than that.
Oh, that's what's the matter today. We've adopted a different tutor for the
church of the living God, than what God gave us. He looked out the best tutor He
could find. And our tutor's not some bishop or some pope,
but it's the
Holy Spirit was given as a Tutor to the Church to raise it. And you're aware of
that.
HEAR.YE.HIM_ SAN.JOSE.CA FRIDAY_ 59-0424E
E-35 And
this boy, when he was born, he was a son. But then, the father would go out and
find the best tutor, or raiser that he could find for this child, to educate it.
He wanted his son to be brought up in the very best of school that could be. And
then this tutor brought the father word all the time how his son was
progressing.
Notice, how typical that is of God. When we were borned into the household of
God, God searched the heavens to find the best Teacher He could find for His
Church. That wasn't the bishop or an archbishop.
That was the
Holy Ghost. That's the Teacher and the Tutor to the Church that's borned again
in the body of Christ.

SMYRNAEAN.CHURCH.AGE - CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.4
Now when God is silent we had better be silent. But where He has spoken we had
better speak, too, and say what He has already said. He told us the evidence, or
what would happen after being baptized with the Holy Ghost was that we would
have the Teacher come and teach all truth.
But that
Teacher was an INSIDE teacher, not an outside teacher.
If the Spirit wasn't inside, you
wouldn't hear the truth and receive it by revelation if you heard it every
moment of the day. That was the sign of the indwelling Spirit in the days of
Paul. Those who were filled with the Holy Ghost heard the Word, received it and
lived by it. Those who did not have the Spirit heard it only as carnal men, put
a wrong interpretation on it and went into sin.
