II PETER 1:5-8

II PETER 1:5

  5     ¶  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

II PETER 1:6

  6    And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

II PETER 1:7

  7    And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

II PETER 1:8

  8    For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

JOHN 6:28-33

  28     ¶  Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

JOHN 6:29

  29    Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

JOHN 6:30

  30    They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

JOHN 6:31

  31    Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

JOHN 6:32

  32    Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

JOHN 6:33

  33    For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

292-5 PHILADELPHIAN.CHURCH.AGE  -  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.8

"These things saith He That is true." Now this word, 'true', is a very wonderful word. It does not mean true in just the sense that it is opposite to false. It expresses the Perfect Realization of an idea as contrasted with its Partial Realization. For example we recall that Jesus said in John 6:32, "Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven." John 15:1, "I am the true vine." Hebrews 9:24, "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us." I John 2:8, "Because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth."

292-6 PHILADELPHIAN.CHURCH.AGE  -  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.8

Since this word, indeed, expresses Perfect Realization as against the idea of Partial Realization as illustrated in these verses, we can now understand as never before Antetype contrasted with type, and substance with shadow. Take the example now of manna from heaven. God sent down angel bread from heaven for Israel. But that bread did not satisfy. It was only good for a day. Those who ate it were hungry again the next day. If it was left around it became contaminated. But Jesus is the TRUE bread from heaven, whereof manna was just a type. And if any man eats of that BREAD that came from heaven he will never hunger again. He does not need to come back and eat again. The moment he partook, he had eternal life. Here indeed was REALITY. No need any longer for a shadow. No need for a partial salvation. Here is the WHOLE of it. Just like Jesus isn't a part of God; He IS God.

  15-1    Now, there's some of these things you might miserably disagree with. So if there is, just like I always said about eating fried chicken: When you hit the bone you don't throw the chicken away; you just throw the bone away. So always do that. Eating cherry pie and you run into a seed, you wouldn't throw the pie away; you just throw the seed away. So you do the same thing in listening to this.

Now, I--I believe that--that the--the reason that there's so much confusion today about the Holy Spirit; it's not correctly taught. I believe that the baptism is taught, and just say, "the baptism," but then the... Like you say, "automobile." But now, I've got several mechanics in this church, and I don't know one thing about it, so if I make a mistake, brethren, I'm... Remember I'm not a mechanic.

There has to be coils, and plugs, and points, and valves, and everything else that makes the automobile. And when you talk about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, there's a lot goes with that. Hmm? See? There's a lot goes with that. And here's what I think that God is proving the Holy Spirit is here. See?

  22-3    Now, see, the faith, these five streams... I had a piece of chalk here, but I guess he never brought it out. But the five streams you see coming down through here tempers this together. It's been the Holy Spirit that made the Ephesus church. It was the Holy Spirit that birthed the Smyrnaean church. It was the Holy Spirit that give the Pergamos church, and the Thyatira church in the Dark Ages. It's the Holy Spirit that's built that Bride, that Elect that's pulled out of all the organization systems down through the ages like that. And there's a elected, a predestinated Bride of Jesus Christ that the Holy Spirit has called out, the Elect. And it's been the Holy Ghost in this age, that age, that age, that, that, that, that, that on up to the top: the Holy Spirit.

And now, as in the individuals, these virtues and things are (knowledge and temperance)--is added to our faith, then when the Capstone comes, the Holy spirit cements it together; There's the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That's why it's so short today.

  73    Now, as God poured out the manna there in the natural, and it lasted as long as they were in the journey: a beautiful type. And the day they entered the promised land, the manna ceased. And on the day of Pentecost, the same thing...

Look at Pentecost to Moses. They looked back and they seen the enemy was dead. Miriam grabbed a tambourine, begin to beat it, and scream, and dance, and run down the bank. The women followed her, doing the same thing. And Moses threw up his hands and sang in the Spirit.

At Pentecost the women come out, staggering, and jumping, and dancing, and carrying on. Peter stood up in the midst of them and said, "You men of Judaea, and you that dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known unto you, and hearken to my words. For these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it's the third hour of the day. This is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel, 'It shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I'll pour out My Spirit upon all flesh, your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; upon My handsmaids, and maidservants will I pour out of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy. And I'll show wonders in the heavens above, and in the earth below: pillars of fire, and vapor, and smoke. And it shall come to pass, before the great and terrible day of the Lord shall come, that whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.'" On and on he went preaching.

EPHESIANS.PARALLELS.JOSHUA_  JEFF.IN  AD.1  SUNDAY_  60-0515E

  66    Now, he's talking to the spiritual Canaanites, Israel, the spiritual Israel who has possessed the land. Oh, aren't you glad you've come out of Egypt's garlic? Aren't you glad you're out of the wilderness? And remember, they had to eat manna, Angel's food out of heaven, until they crossed over into the land. And when they crossed over into the land, the manna ceased to fall. They were fully matured then, and they eat the old corn of the land. Now, now that you're not babies anymore, now that you're not desiring the sincere milk of the Gospel, that you don't have to be babied, and patted, and persuaded to come to church, now that you're real fully matured Christians, you're ready to eat strong meats now. You're ready to come into something:, he said. You're ready to understand something that's deep and rich. Oh, we'll get into it directly. And, oh, it's been hidden since the foundation of the world.

He said, "Now, that you've come into this, I'm addressing this to you," not to those who've just left Egypt, not to those who are still in the journey, but to those who are in the promised land, that has received the promise.
