LEVITICUS 23:1-8

1     ¶  And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

LEVITICUS 23:2

2    Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, [Concerning] the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim [to be] holy convocations, [even] these [are] my feasts.

LEVITICUS 23:3

3    Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day [is] the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work [therein]: it [is] the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

LEVITICUS 23:4

4     ¶  These [are] the feasts of the LORD, [even] holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

LEVITICUS 23:5

5    In the fourteenth [day] of the first month at even [is] the LORD'S passover.

LEVITICUS 25:8

8     ¶  And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

MATTHEW 12:38-40

38     ¶  Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

MATTHEW 12:39

39    But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

MATTHEW 12:40

40    For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

ISRAEL.IN.THE.HOMELAND_  JEFF.IN  IC 129-147  SUNDAY_  53-0329

5    Now, this coming Friday will be a--a crucifixion message, this coming Friday night, the Lord willing; we'll take Him to the cross, see Him crucified, put Him in the tomb and keep Him there over Saturday night; but Sunday morning, on the Easter sunrise service we'll try to bring Him out, show you how He proves what He is.

Be pretty nice, right after that, if the Lord let us have a big healing service, wouldn't it? Would be nice? Maybe get the high school gym or something, and just crowd in a few more thousands of people, and have a big healing service, put it in the paper and on the radios, and so forth. Usually runs several thousand people when we have healing services. That's my calling, praying for the sick. Had such a marvelous experience along those lines.

GO.TELL.MY.DISCIPLES_  JEFF.IN  V-25 N-5  SUNDAY_  53-0405S

89    Now, we want to start this morning on tomb. Then after His resurrection, Mary, Martha, and the Mary--the Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Jesus... It was early one morning. They kept His body in the ground over the Sabbath, which was a customary that they didn't do anything on the Sabbath day. So He died Friday afternoon at three o'clock, and rose up real early Sunday morning.

Now, I want to settle this question, while you're here this morning in this sunrise service. Many people says, "How comes then that He said that He would lay... He was in the grave, three days and nights?" He never said He would do that.

He said, "Within these three days will I raise up my body." See? Now, the reason He did that is because David had said, one place in the Scripture, "I'll not leave his soul in hell; neither will I suffer my holy One to see corruption." And He knew that corruption set in the human body after seventy-two hours, three days and nights. And sometime within that three days and nights, God was going to raise Him up. So He died on Friday afternoon at three o'clock and rose up early Sunday morning.

GREEK LEXICON -- STRONG'S NUMBER 2250

2250     hemera    {hay-mer'-ah}    hJmevra    feminine (with 5610 implied) of a derivative of hemai (to sit, akin to the base of 1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; TDNT -- 2:943,309; n f

 AV  -- day (355)

     -- daily + 2596 (15)

     -- time (3)

     -- not translated (2)

     -- misc (14) [389]

 1) the day, used of the natural day, or the interval between sunrise and sunset, as distinguished from and contrasted with the night

   1a) in the daytime

1b) metaphorically, "the day" is regarded as the time for abstaining from indulgence, vice, crime, because acts of the sort are perpetrated at night and in darkness

 2) of the civil day, or the space of twenty four hours (thus including the night). Eastern usage of this term differs from our western usage. Any part of a day is counted as a whole day, hence the expression "three days and three nights" does not mean literally three whole days, but at least one whole day plus part of two other days. Hence the Jews wanted Christ buried before the Passover day started at Friday sundown. Therefore Christ was in the grave for part of Friday, all of Saturday and part of the first day of the week, thus by Eastern standards he was in the grave "three days and three nights". This strange usage is still common in the east today, especially in Moslem countries. (Mt. 28.1)

 3) of the last day of this present age, the day Christ will return from heaven, raise the dead, hold the final judgement, and perfect his Kingdom.

 4) used of time in general, i.e. the days of his life.

SIGN.OF.THIS.TIME_  NY.NY  V-18 N-8  WEDNESDAY_  63-1113

99    And Jonah was a sign. Now, if you notice, Jesus refers to it here, "A weak, wicked and an adulterous generation will seek after signs, and they'll get it. For as the prophet Jonah was in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights, so must the Son of man (See?) be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights." What was Jonah then a sign of? He was a sign of the resurrection. All right.

PRESENCE.OF.GOD.UNRECOGNIZED_  TOPEKA.KS  V-20 N-2  THURSDAY_  64-0618

138    "A wicked and an adulterous generation will seek after a sign, notice, and they will receive a sign." What? This generation. "For as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and nights, the Son of man must be in the heart of the earth three days and nights." What sign will that wicked and adulterous generation receive? The sign of the resurrection.

And today, after two thousand years, we still see Jesus Christ in the power of His resurrection, standing among us, doing the things that He did then and promised to do. "A wicked and an adulterous generation will seek after a sign, always wanting to 'show me this, and if you can do this and do this.' They'll get it, the sign of the resurrection." He's the same yesterday, today, and forever, the Word made manifest dwelling among us. How we should thank God for His great sign.

GOD.IDENTIFYING.HIMSELF_  DENHAM.SP.LA  FRIDAY_  64-0320

E-49    Now, we notice, that in the sundry times, in divers manner, He spoke to the fathers through the prophets; in the last days through His Son Jesus Christ, by raising Him up from the dead. And here He is among us, after two thousand years, the same Jesus, not one of the prophets, Jesus (Hallelujah.), the resurrected Son of God.

Jesus said one day; He said, "A wicked and adulterous generation seek after a sign. And they'll get a sign." A wicked and adulterous generation... When was the world any more wicked, or adultery, and perverted than it is now? "As it was in the days of Jonas... As Jonas was in the belly of a whale for three days and nights, so must the Son of man be in the heart of the earth three days and nights." Then a wicked and adulterous generation was to receive a sign. What kind of a sign? A sign of the resurrection. And we have it today. After two thousand years, He's still alive. He's among us tonight, the same yesterday, today, and forever, identifying Himself by the characteristic of God manifesting the Word in this day that He promised to do. Amen. There's the Word. Now, will you believe the sign is the next thing. Last days, His identification by His Son...

RECOGNIZING.YOUR.DAY_  JEFF.IN  V-5 N-1  SUNDAY_  64-0726M

61    Notice carefully. Then after two days... Now, that didn't mean two twenty-four hour days, 'cause it's been--that happened way back yonder many hundreds of years ago. See? It meant two days with the Lord--after two thousand years. Now, you know how long it's been since that time? It's been twenty-seven hundred years since that, 'cause in Hosea here it's B.C. 780--1964. See, it's been something over twenty-seven hundred years ago. He said, "After two days, in the third day He will revive us again and give us Life in His sight." There's your Trumpets coming in. That's the hour that we're living, the day that we're living.

FUTURE.HOME_  JEFF.IN  V-3 N-5  SUNDAY_  64-0802

70-1    O God, we know the age and the promise that we are given for this day, how that this is to be restored again. The Evening Light shall ripen the fruit of it, and it shall come to pass that there'll be a day that cannot be day or night--can be called--but in the evening time it shall be Light. That same glorious Son of God manifested Himself in human flesh up here on the earth, making the promise live itself exactly; blinded to the eyes of the Pharisees and Sadducees and Herodians and so forth, and today it repeats again, the Word being manifested just like It was. The Word, knowing the secret of the heart, just exactly the way it was, as the Scripture said, which cannot be broken... Help us, God, to realize it. Help these now who raised their hands. May they buckle up a little tighter; shod themselves with the Gospel of peace; put on the full armor of God; pull the helmet down; take the shield of faith; march forward from the day on. Grant it, Lord.

RISING.OF.THE.SUN_  JEFF.IN  V-3 N-12  SUNDAY_  65-0418M

11-4    Now, if there is another gospel, as Paul spoke to one of the groups, "I am so surprised that you turned to another gospel (which there is no other but a make-believe gospel), to a denominational fiction, turning from that good news: 'And because I live, ye live also, and I live in you; and the works that I do (John 14:12), the works that I do will identify Myself in you.'" Oh, what a Message. No wonder we've had a dark world of theology. But in the evening time there shall come Light again. There will be a resurrection in the evening time. It shall be Light at the evening time.

GOD'S.PROVIDED.WAY_  CONNERSVILLE.IN  SATURDAY_  53-0613

E-28    Certainly. God's provided Lamb, God's provided Sacrifice...

Said, "Now, wait Moses, I'll make you a type." And He took the blood of this lamb, killed it in the evening.

Notice, all the elders of Israel had to witness to it. And they witnessed the death, just as they did up there. They said, "Let His Blood be upon us." And He died in the evening time. Jesus died at three o'clock. And they took the--the blood of the lamb with hyssop and sprinkled it upon the door post and on the lintel.

Did you notice? Not on the floor, it's not to be looked down to. It's to be looked up to. And notice, on the door post and on the lintel, perfect, the cross. There was the blood.

God said, "When I see the Blood, I'll pass, I'll pass over you. When I see the Blood," God's provided way.

"How are we going to escape the death?"

He said, "I'll watch for the blood."

And there that night out... And let's take a little drama. I can notice the father, of course, in--in the Old Testament was the priest of the house. Now, he's the figurehead. Now, he goes down and he puts a--on the door and the lintel post. And then when it come about night, I can see all the young girls down there come out, tell the Hebrew girls, "Come on, we're going out to the dance."

Why, they say, "We can't go. We're under the blood." What a type. "We're coming in God's provided way."

"Nonsense with that religion. Whoever thought that blood would do anything? Come on out, let's have a good time."

END.TIME.THE_  PHOENIX.AZ  SUNDAY_  54-0307A

E-46    Notice, these two coming now, out of Genesis. Let's bring them up. There he was, Cain, as soon as he seen that God blessed Abel, he become jealous. Is that right?

A religious worshipper becoming jealous... Now, Cain died, but not his spirit. Then he come over and killed his brother. Is that right? Perfect type of Judas and Jesus again. See?

Let's bring them on farther. We could bring it on through to the ark, all the way. But I want to get something to you before it's time to get away.

Notice, let's bring them on up through the Bible. Watch. In the days God called Israel out of Egypt, perfect type of the Church. And when he already come out, God that night give Israel a command, buy a lamb. Kept up fourteen days, must be found without a blemish, and was killed in the evening time.

TOKEN.THE_  JEFF.IN  V-2 N-19  SUNDAY_  63-0901M

9-3    The lamb was killed in the evening time after being kept up for fourteen days. And then the lamb was killed, and the blood was applied in the evening time. You get it?

The token never come into existence until the evening time. And this is the evening time of the age that we live in. This is the evening time for the--for the church. This is the evening time for me. This is the evening time of my message. I'm dying; I'm going; I'm moving out in the evening time of the Gospel.
