Quotes used in the sermon "Gace before Law"

GALATIANS 3:16
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

GALATIANS 3:17
17 And this I say, [that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

GALATIANS 3:18
18 For if the inheritance [be] of the law, [it is] no more of promise: but God gave [it] to Abraham by promise.

HEBREWS.CHAPTER.6_ JEFF.IN HEB SUNDAY_ 57-0908E
234-433 Now, we're closing. Then Brother Neville will pick up where I leave off here. All right:
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred year... four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of non effect.
That's the promise God give Abraham, before the law ever come into existence.
For if the... for if inheritance be of the law, it is no more of the promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
Not by nothing you do, not by any laws, any laws of your church, by joining church, or any other law; it's absolutely a grace act of God to you. There you are. Watch.

HEAR.YE.HIM_ INDIANAPOLIS.IN MONDAY_ 56-0611
E-30 Now, who could be saved by the law? No one could be saved by the law. The law didn't come to save us. The law was to magnify our sins, to point them out to us. And listen, to you legalist believers, I want to ask you something: There's not one thing you can do to be saved in yourself. No sir. You are saved by grace and that alone, and you have nothing to do with it. God chose you in Christ before the foundation of the world. That's right.
There's not one thing you can do to merit. So you keep all the commandments you want to, join all the churches you want to, you're still lost. You might know your catechism, say Hail Mary's. You might know the Apostles Creed, the Doxology; you might know all the doctrine of the Bible. But to know the Bible is not Life. To know the church creed is not Life. But to know Him is Life. Alone to know Him... You might be baptized this way, that way, this way, that way, or sprinkled, poured, whatever it may be; you're still lost until you know Him. To know Him is Life. The church in its condition...

HEAR.YE.HIM_ PARKERSBURG.WV SATURDAY_ 56-1215
E-41 Let's look at Moses. Moses represented the law. No man can keep the law. And no flesh is justified by the law. I'm glad that it's not good works that we have done, but it's by His grace, by His mercy, by His foreknowledge, that He foreknew us before the foundation of the world. Amen. And then I couldn't be saved by law. You can't be saved by law. So if the law was weak and could not do, God in due time sent His Son made after the likeness of sinful, by a woman born under the law, that He might redeem us from the curse of the law. So Moses--God shut him off.

HEBREWS.CHAPTER.6.AND.7._ JEFF.IN HEB SUNDAY_ 57-0915M
264-597 Not eating meats, and doing this, and perfecting the body, you'll never have it. And you've got to quit this, and do this, and do this, and do this, that's law. That's legalist. We don't believe in the legal forms of salvation. We believe it "by grace are we saved." And it's not you; you have nothing to do with it; it's God's election that does it. "No man can come to Me except My Father draws him." That's right. And He... All Jesus come to do was to get these that the Father foreknew and predestinated them before the foundation of the world to become sons and daughters of God. Amen. "Not him that runneth or him that willeth, but God that showeth mercy." It's God that does it. You can't brag at all. There's not a thing that you did; God, by grace, saved you, not you, yourself. If you do, you got something to brag about. But you haven't nothing to brag. All praises goes to Him. It's Him. Then He's give you this sure hope, swore by an oath, the impossibility for His children to ever be lost.

HEBREWS.CHAPTER.7.PT.1_ JEFF.IN HEB SUNDAY_ 57-0915E
318-163 The law, the legalist (See?), "Aw, you have to do this. If you don't do this, you're not a Christian. And if you don't keep the sabbath. If you don't... If you eat meat. If you do these things," all these legal ideas. "You've got to go to church. If you don't, you pay a penalty for it. You have to do a novena." That stuff is nonsense. You're saved by the grace of God, by the foreknowledge of God, by His predestination. God called Abraham by predestination, by foreknowledge. He called... He hated Esau and loved Jacob before either one was born. That's right. It's--it's God's foreknowledge that knows these things.

JEHOVAH.JIREH_ KARLSRUHE.GERMANY WEDNESDAY_ 55-0817
E-7 When we accept Him as Saviour, we must also accept Him as Healer, as our Peace, as our Shield, as our Banner, all these redemptive Names, God's present attitude is to His people now the same.
Now, I think myself, that God has done just about all that there is to be done. Now, first He put the Old Testament for types. He sent the law, then He sent prophets to back up the law. The law was for the whole nation. The prophet was to show the supernatural. The law was the letter, letter of the law. But the prophet was a supernatural sign. And what He did for Israel, He does for the Church.

KNOWETH.IT.NOT_ JEFF.IN V-2 N-10 SUNDAY_ 65-0815
20-2 Then He said one day, "Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, drink His blood, you have no life in you." He didn't explain it. Those apostles and them of that day who was ordained to Life, He knowed it. Said, "All the Father has given Me will come. Only thing He had to do was just make My voice known; they know it. For My sheep know My voice." And a voice is the Word expressed. [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.]... they'd believe it, anyhow. They don't have to scientifically prove anything or ask any Sadducee or Pharisee or anything else about it. "I said it; they believe it. For My sheep hear My voice." And This is the voice of God in letter form, because This is the entire revelation of Jesus Christ: Old and New Testament put together. Amen. There you are.

GOD'S.POWER.TO.TRANSFORM_ PHOENIX.AZ V-16 N-5 SATURDAY_ 65-0911
33 It's an old familiar text that many of your pastors has used down through your time. It's been used since It was written. But yet, one thing about the Word of God, It never grows old, because It's God. It never grows old. Through every generation now for pretty near, about twenty-eight hundred years or better, this Word of God has been read by men, priests, and so forth, and never does It grow old. I've been reading It myself for some thirty-five years. And each time I read It, I find something new that I looked over the first time. Because It is inspired. It is God in letter form. See, It's the attributes of God speaking fore--forth and is placed on paper.

MASTERPIECE.THE_ JEFF.IN V-4 N-7 SUNDAY_ 64-0705
9 We're here in service of the Lord this morning, knowing that--that--that we believe God, that we believe that He'll make everything just exactly right. Regardless of what it is and how it works out, we know it's got to work for good. He promised that. It's just got to be that way. Sometimes we can't understand that, gets very complicated at times, but yet we know that it's the truth, 'cause the Bible says it's the truth. And the Bible to us is God in letter form.
Now, we got to place our faith somewhere. And if--if I--any of us in life tried to make a success in life and become many times a multimillionaire... But what are we going to do with that? We got to come down at the end of the road and what--what good is it to us then? See? And money is a--a scrip; it's an exchange; but you can't exchange it for Life. Only God has Life.
